COMMUNITY BRIDGE BUILDING - BELGRAVE & BRAUNSTONE

Between the months of June 2007 and January 2008 we will begin to identify and contact community and voluntary groups in the Braunstone and Belgrave areas to join the community bridge building project. The project is in the process of setting up a steering group made up of eight people. Four from the White community of Braunstone and four from the Asian community in Belgrave.

The members of the steering group will be given community bridge building training and hold community bridge building workshops for community and voluntary groups, statutory agencies, colleges and universities.

During February 2008 the steering group will hold a large community bridge building seminar in Leicester looking at the importance of community bridge building for cohesion and integration and at various workable methods to obtain this.

we also aim to produce and distribute a practical guide to community bridge building by March 2008.

The outcome of this project is to give community groups and statutory organisations an improved and practical understanding of community bridge building so that the groups and communities in Braunstone and Belgrave have a better understanding of each other.
